元ウエイトリフティングの日本代表、オリンピック候補指定選手。現役時はジュニア、大学の日本新記録を樹立。トップアスリートとして活動していたが何を思ったのか、突然音楽をやろうと決意し、引退。
競技引退後は、プロのギタリストを目指し上京。音楽学校に入学し井上博氏に師事。卒業後はサポートミュージシャン等の演奏を中心に活動する傍ら、2015年からはYouTubeへの投稿を開始。ちなみに当時はエレキギターでの活動がメインだったが、徐々にアコギでのソロギターが増えていったのは、単に動画撮影が楽だったから、という噂がある。
2016年には『Morris FINGER PICKING DAY 』に出場し、優秀賞を受賞。
基本的には変則チューニングやスラム奏法といった技術は使わず、レギュラーチューニングによるオーソドックスな奏法を信条としている。このスタイルが幅広い層に支持され、オリジナルアレンジの楽譜は多くのプレイヤーに評価されている。
また、リットーミュージック社からは楽譜集「龍藏Ryuzo ソロ・ギター 邦楽ベスト・セレクション」(2020年3月)、「龍藏Ryuzo ソロ・ギター 洋楽ベスト・セレクション」(2022年6月)を発売。両作品ともに重版を重ねロングセラー作品となっている。
その他、アルバムの制作、ライブ活動、レッスンなど様々な活動を行っている。

A native of Fukuoka Prefecture, he is a man who loves alcohol.
He is a former member of the Japanese national weightlifting team and a designated Olympic hopeful. During his competitive career, he set new Japanese records at both the junior and collegiate levels. Although active as a top-tier athlete, he suddenly decided to pursue music and retired from the sport.
After retiring from competition, he moved to Tokyo with the goal of becoming a professional guitarist. He enrolled in a music school and studied under Hiroshi Inoue. Following graduation, he worked primarily as a support musician while also beginning to upload videos to YouTube in 2015. While he initially focused on electric guitar, he gradually shifted toward solo acoustic guitar; rumor has it that this change was simply because filming acoustic guitar videos was easier.
In 2016, he participated in the “Morris Finger Picking Day” competition and won the Excellence Award.
He generally avoids techniques like alternate tunings or the “slam” (percussive) style, adhering instead to orthodox playing methods using standard tuning. This style has garnered support from a wide audience, and his original arrangements are highly acclaimed by many players.
He has also released two scorebooks through Rittor Music: Ryuzo Solo Guitar: Best Selection of Japanese Songs (March 2020) and Ryuzo Solo Guitar: Best Selection of Western Songs (June 2022). Both titles have undergone multiple reprints and have become long-selling hits.
In addition, he engages in various other activities, including album production, live performances, and teaching lessons.
His primary instruments include the Maton EBG808TE, James Goodall RGC, and Switch Custom Guitars OM-Ryuzo.
